Division Algorithm for Polynomials

Lesson 3 of 6
For polynomials p(x)p(x) and g(x)g(x) (with g(x)≠0g(x) \ne 0), there exist unique polynomials q(x)q(x) (quotient) and r(x)r(x) (remainder) with p(x)=g(x) q(x)+r(x)p(x) = g(x)\, q(x) + r(x) and either r(x)=0r(x) = 0 or deg⁡r(x)<deg⁡g(x)\deg r(x) < \deg g(x). This mirrors integer long division.
