    Zeroes and Coefficients (Quadratic)
    If α,β\alpha, \beta are zeroes of ax2+bx+cax^2 + bx + c (a≠0a\ne 0), then α+β=−b/a\alpha + \beta = -b/a and αβ=c/a\alpha\beta = c/a. This lets you construct a quadratic with given zeroes: x2−(α+β)x+αβ=0x^2 - (\alpha+\beta)x + \alpha\beta = 0.

    Geometrical Meaning of Zeroes
The graph of y=ax2+bx+cy = ax^2 + bx + c is a parabola. Its real zeroes are the xx-coordinates of the points where the parabola meets the xx-axis. A quadratic can cross the xx-axis in 2 points (2 real zeroes), touch it (equal…

    Division Algorithm for Polynomials
    For polynomials p(x)p(x) and g(x)g(x) (with g(x)≠0g(x) \ne 0), there exist unique polynomials q(x)q(x) (quotient) and r(x)r(x) (remainder) with p(x)=g(x) q(x)+r(x)p(x) = g(x)\, q(x) + r(x) and either r(x)=0r(x) = 0 or deg⁡r(x)<deg⁡g(x)\deg r(x) < \deg g(x). This mirro…

    Factor and Remainder Theorems
Remainder Theorem: if p(x)p(x) is divided by (x−a)(x-a), the remainder is p(a)p(a). Factor Theorem: (x−a)(x-a) is a factor of p(x)p(x) iff p(a)=0p(a) = 0. These reduce factorisation to root-hunting.

    Cubic Polynomial Relations
    For a cubic ax3+bx2+cx+dax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d with zeroes α,β,γ\alpha, \beta, \gamma: α+β+γ=−b/a\alpha+\beta+\gamma = -b/a, αβ+βγ+γα=c/a\alpha\beta+\beta\gamma+\gamma\alpha = c/a, αβγ=−d/a\alpha\beta\gamma = -d/a. Use these Viète-style identities to construc…

    Strategy: Splitting the Middle Term
    To factor ax2+bx+cax^2 + bx + c, find two numbers m,nm, n with m+n=bm+n = b and mn=acmn = ac. Rewrite bxbx as mx+nxmx + nx and factor by grouping. E.g. for 6x2+11x+36x^2 + 11x + 3: need product 1818, sum 1111; pick 9,29,2: $6x^2 + 9x + 2x + 3 =…
