Standard Form and Roots

Lesson 1 of 6
A quadratic equation is of the form ax2+bx+c=0ax^2 + bx + c = 0 with a≠0a \ne 0. A number α\alpha is a root (or zero) if aα2+bα+c=0a\alpha^2 + b\alpha + c = 0. Every quadratic has at most two roots. Real coefficients need not yield real roots — the discriminant decides.
