Detailed theory
For a circle of radius rr: circumference C=2πrC = 2\pi r, area A=πr2A = \pi r^2. Diameter d=2rd = 2r. π\pi is the ratio C/dC/d and equals approximately 22/722/7 or 3.143.14.
