Collecting Data
Data can be gathered by observation, surveys, or from published sources. Raw data is organised into a frequency table.

Tally Marks
Each mark = 1 unit. Every 5th mark crosses the previous 4: $\bcancel{||||}$ . Speeds up counting.

Pictographs
One symbol represents a fixed number of units — always write the key beside the graph. Partial symbols show halves or quarters.

Bar Graphs
Bars vertical or horizontal. Label both axes, give a title, use a uniform scale. Compare bar heights for insight.
