Lessons
4 concepts
  1. 1
    Complex Numbers
    z=a+ibz = a + ib where i2=−1i^2 = -1. Addition and multiplication distribute normally.
  2. 2
    Modulus & Conjugate
    ∣z∣=a2+b2|z| = \sqrt{a^2 + b^2}; zˉ=a−ib\bar z = a - ib; zzˉ=∣z∣2z \bar z = |z|^2.
  3. 3
    Argand Plane
    Plot z=a+ibz = a + ib as (a,b)(a, b). Geometric meaning of addition (parallelogram) and multiplication (rotation + scaling).
  4. 4
    Quadratic Equations with Complex Roots
    ax2+bx+c=0ax^2 + bx + c = 0 has roots x=−b±b2−4ac2ax = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}. When discriminant <0< 0, roots are complex conjugates.
