Lessons
4 concepts
  1. 1
    Cartesian Product
    For sets A,BA, B: A×B={(a,b):a∈A, b∈B}A \times B = \{(a, b) : a \in A,\, b \in B\}. ∣A×B∣=∣A∣⋅∣B∣|A \times B| = |A| \cdot |B|.
  2. 2
    Relations
A relation RR from AA to BB is any subset of A×BA \times B. Domain = set of first components; range = set of second components.
  3. 3
    Functions
    A function f:A→Bf : A \to B assigns each a∈Aa \in A a unique b∈Bb \in B. Types: identity, constant, polynomial, rational, modulus ∣x∣|x|, greatest integer ⌊x⌋\lfloor x \rfloor, signum.
  4. 4
    Algebra of Real Functions
    For real-valued f,gf, g: define f±gf \pm g, fgfg, f/gf/g pointwise. Composition is formative-only for 2026-27 boards.
