Detailed theory
A fraction p/qp/q (q0q\ne 0) represents pp parts of a whole divided into qq equal parts. Numerator = pp, denominator = qq.
Key concepts & formulas

In pq\dfrac{p}{q}, pp is the numerator, qq is the denominator (q0q \ne 0).

Proper fraction: p<qp < q; Improper: pqp \ge q.

Equivalent fractions have the same value: multiply/divide num & den by the same non-zero number.

To add fractions, take LCM of denominators.

pq=rs    ps=qr\dfrac{p}{q} = \dfrac{r}{s} \iff ps = qr.
